    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

Well sadly my first outing with this gun didn’t go so well. Many, many failures to feed. Nothing looked wrong inside but today I made a dummy round, painted it with a sharpie, and let the bolt ram home on it. And I tried it out of both sides of the double feed magazine. Found consistent...

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

I’d never heard of Klayco before this week but yeah good to see there’s a potential solution. The Pufgun mags seem to be a workable solution if KUSA never makes mags again.

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

Got some extra magazines (someone on Gunbroker had a bunch of 10 rounders for $22/ea, not a bad deal). I took one apart for science. There is a thick U-shaped steel wire that hooks into the lock plate at the bottom of the magazine. The follower butts into this which limits the capacity. The...

You think kusa will get back into business?

There’s one in the classifieds here for a reasonable asking price. My best guess is they will get bought and be shipping stuff again in a few months. But who knows.

Implemented Can we add a “non firearm related sales thread” and “survival thread” sections?

Just posted it! I’ve got more stuff I should post up, just need to clean out the closet. I’m really amazed at how much traction the handgun classifieds got so quickly. Good job!

WTS Spyderco Native Chief Lightweight knife - San Diego

This is a brand new in box Spyderco Natice Chief LW, partially serrated. I bought it new and took it apart, lubed it up, dialed in the pivot, and decided it’s an epic blade but not for me. It has slice a couple pieces of paper. These are $153 plus tax new. Asking $130 shipped PayPal G&S.
    $130.00

Implemented Can we add a “non firearm related sales thread” and “survival thread” sections?

Oh yeah it was weird that there were two paths to the classifieds. You should just nuke the other one, people will find it.

Implemented Can we add a “non firearm related sales thread” and “survival thread” sections?

I’ve got a few pocket knives and other non-firearm items I could sell. Would it make sense to have a section for that kind of stuff?

    1st Thread in C&R - A "Real" Springfield 1911

Gorgeous gun. I only recently really appreciated the 1911 when I picked up some cheap GSG .22 1911 style pistol. Obviously it’s the least authentic 1911 you can buy, but the trigger is addictive. I want to get a 1911 GI style 9mm. If such a thing exists. My dad had an unfired Norinco 1911. I...

What will you buy before 11% comes?

Finding a used 1301 seems nearly impossible. They’ve upped the prices on the 1301 so high that I think I’ll stick with my basic 590.

    Girsan Hipower added to roster

I don’t think you buy a Hipower (or clone) because it competes with a CZ-75. It’s a design that predates the CZ-75 by 40 years. It doesn’t have a large following in the U.S. so the aftermarket is rather thin. You buy it because it’s an old military pistol. It’s supposed to be a pretty good...

Really wish people would switch over to CAGUNS

I think all what you say is true except you’re missing the reason that Calguns marketplace got popular: there’s literally no other option. Nobody wants to use Armslist. Mainstream sites/apps like OfferUp and eBay won’t let people list. Reddit is particularly aggressive against offering things...

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

I would just eyeball the rear of the firing pin. If it looks like mine you’re good. They started fixing these a while ago.

    Scammed again on Calguns

Guys stop giving deposits. Its just a gun, you can find another one.

Really wish people would switch over to CAGUNS

We just need more discussions here. The for sale stuff is picking up. If you’ve got a gun you even thinking of selling put it up for sale. We just need critical mass.

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

We have to talk about the firing pin! The original version of KP9/KR9 had some problems with the guns firing out of battery. KUSA fixed the issue and retrofitted early guns with I think just a new firing pin. The round button on the rear of the pin indicates it’s the new design. Older ones...

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

Let’s talk about the folding stock. For compliance reasons it’s not foldable in this configuration. You can’t push that button. This metal sleeve over the latch plunger is pinned in place. If you want to restore the folding capability what I’ve read is you need to remove the stock and tap...

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

The rail is well done and locks up tight. I think most people will put a red dot on this gun. The triangle stock gives a very high cheek weld which makes the irons feel cramped. I’ve compared the geometry with my regular AKM and I can’t quite see why it feels different. Iron sights still work...

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

On to the magazine area The mag release is faithful to the original from what I can tell. It’s a short thin piece of sheet metal. It’s not hard to actuate but it just feels more awkward, small, and stiff compared to a regular AK pattern mag release. Somebody (I think Krebs) sells a...

    KUSA KR9 “Kali9” deep dive

On to the grip. This is what it ships with. I don’t hate it as far as featureless grips go. I think the more angled MonsterMan grip makes overall manipulation of the gun easier. There’s no perfect solution to California’s oppression against pistol grips. KUSA made a good choice here I think...
